Since today is Blog Action Day, I thought I would keep in line with the theme for this year which is the Power Of We. Canadian small businesses are crucial to Canada's economic success. They have created millions of jobs across the country, and Canada would not be the same without them. We the people have the power to change the way we shop and support small businesses.
On that note, I like to stress how important it is to shop local whenever possible. There are many goods and services available within our own communities, yet we choose to drive out to some big box store, instead of supporting those around us.
So the next time you're looking for a haircut, a contractor, etc, have a look around your community, and help it to become stronger. Why is it that we as a country keep exporting what we have to other countries, and import the same from another? It's time that we as consumers put a stop to this whenever possible, even if it's just one small step.
What was the last small business you shopped at?
To you and yours,
